Terrific column by Martin Samuels in the Mail
So good to read a balanced view of the Zouma affair. He rightly condemns the player but also highlights the hypocrisy of certain sponsors and individuals who have got on their high horses when they are certainly not above criticism themselves. He is quite right when he says that the worst punishment that Zouma will experience will be every time he steps out on to a football pitch from fans. Whether he is strong enough to still play well is still to be seen. I personally thought that he played very well on Tuesday. We shall see.
One last thing to add is that as much as I approved of the Samuels column what a shame that the same newspaper headlined such bullshit about the West Ham squad being in “Mutiny “ over Zouma income. Total nonsense.

Strangely enough, I don't feel a single twinge of guilt by proxy through Moyes having selected him to play against Watford and I equally won't feel such a twinge if he plays against Leicester...or Newcastle...or Wolves...or every game until the end of the season.

I'd feel mightily sorry for those who feel that us missing out on a trophy this, or a place in Europe next season is somehow a suitable punishment - who, exactly is being punished in that scenario?

If you throw the sponsors Kissimmee Sea World argument then some bright spark would always pick up on the fact that West Ham have them as a sponsor by decision. To be fair Moyes created this by playing him.

I still think we'll suspend him after the RSPCA has concluded their investigation.

I felt Moyes picking him based on the innocent until proven guilty thing that seems a thing of the past.

I still think Zouma is a mammoth cunt for doing it though, and it would bother me too much if we fucked him off in the summer. The worry with that is that it will likely take Moyes 10 years dithering to find his replacement.

Some of it I agree with, (his attack on sponsors and general meat eating hypocrites).

Not sure I agree with this:
"This was what made David Moyes’s argument that he picked Zouma because ‘he’s one of our better players’ so poor. It implies West Ham have a register for pet abuse generally, based on performance."

I feel that Moyes is saying look: We run a business, We dont have the luxury of making token gestures to appease particular groups of people here. So we are making a business decision and right now we are playing our best players where we can unless there is a huge legal or moral issue where that is impossible.

If the player weren't that good then yes we could "afford" the gesture but we cannot as a club sabotage our success because of this situation.

I dont think that is a bad response.
I dont think its weak, its actually honest.
Which is more than all these hypocrites are doing over this whole thing.

I wonder if some of the Mary-Ann's on here still want him sacked?

Those wanting a man to have his livelihood ruined without any opportunity of redemption, especially when it would be a totally out-of-proportion punishment for the crime committed, are basically the modern day version of a lynch-mob.

To quote Danny Baker

"This week it's my turn in the barrel"

Let's hope Kurt isn't too dizzy when all this has passed and somebody else is getting tumbled around next week...

Dan Wooton on GBNEWS going on about the race card being played! Completely missed the point Antonio was making about the disproportionate outcry for Zouma cancellation and sacking, even though other players found guilty of racism have continued to play! How could Wooton be so thick and miss that point! Prick!

Yeah, the OTT reaction from some quarters actually puts Zouma in the position of victim, to some extent, even if he what he did was very cuntish. And if one of the players is victimised his team mates could and should rally round.

Nice to see some balance from the media. What a laugh that piss take of Moyes, great humour, I guess Messi at his best could kick all cats he liked, no problem.
Thanks for that OLD GEEZER

This could actually galvanize the team. Without condoning his actions I think if the team support him as a player we could see some positive response on the field.

I like Samuel, but didn't think this was his best work. Would have been more interested in his musings on the disgraceful transfer window.

How much more blatant need the case be presented that the media value clicks over content?

Yeah, hth at part of the column is ridiculous and doesn’t really make sense.

Re: Terrific column by Martin Samuels in the Mail
He's spot on about most of it, but in the column he takes a pop at Moyes for picking Zouma because ‘he’s one of our better players’ and then does a skit about Diop not being allowed to kick any cats while Rice can kick up to 8.

Moyes was asked before the match about selecting Zouma and replied that he was starting because ‘he’s one of our better players’, and that the video was a separate matter that was ongoing and would be dealt with by the club.

So, the fact is that he didn't make any suggestion that Zouma's ability meant that he should get a lighter punishment than a worse player would, which is what Samuels is implying.

Interesting to read about Kissmyarse or whatever they are called and THEIR Seaworld attractions. Animal loving/exploiting , low rent pikey holiday merchants. Good riddance.
Lots of hypocrisy around
Any sponsor that wants to bail should be waved away.
Reminds me of all the corporate cunts that deserted Tiger Woods as he was so 'disgraceful'. You find out who your true friends are. And who is a cunt
